Apapa station was named after Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Kajola station was named after Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo and Abeokuta station was named after Nigerian Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka.
Ajaokuta station was named after the former Senate leader late Olusola Saraki. Also honoured are Mobolaji Johnson (Ebute Metta Station), Babatunde Raji Fashola (Agege station), Lateef Jakande (Agbado station), and Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti (Papalanto station).
Olodo station was named after Aremo Segun Osoba, Omio-Adio station was named after Chief Ladoka Akintola, Ibadan station was named after Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Operation Control Centre was named after Chief Alex Ekwueme.
Alhaji Adamu Attah (Itakpe station), Admiral Augustus Aikhomu (Itogbo station), Brigadier General George Innih (Agenebode station), Anthony Eromosele Enahoro (Uromi station), Chief Tom Ikimi (Ekehen station) and Brig. Gen. Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia (rtd) (Igbanke station).
